Route closures this Sunday in Sale for the Manchester Half Marathon ..

The Manchester Half Marathon  is back this Sunday.

The organisers warn there will be several road closures, including routes across Sale, with over 15,000 people taking part.

The 13.1 mile route starts at on Chester Road close to Old Trafford. Runners will then head towards the city centre before turning back on themselves near Cornbrook.

Heading back down Chester Road, runners will go through Sale before looping around Brooklands.

As they run back towards Old Trafford, runners will turn down Edge Lane and through Chorlton Village before ending at Old Trafford Cricket ground

The Athlete Village at Lancashire Cricket Club opens at 7am for runners to prepare for their Sunday challenge.

At 8.55am the Wheelchair athletes will start the race then at 9am the Elite runners will begin.

All other participants will follow but event organisers warn that it may take up to 40 minutes to cross the line.

The race is expected to be over at 12pm.

There is no official car parking for the event and there will be no car parks will be open at either Manchester United FC, Lancashire Cricket Club or the immediate surrounding area
